About the Role Our Client is seeking a
skilled and detail-oriented Medium Voltage Switchgear and Control Engineer
to join its growing engineering team. This role involves the design, development, and support of systems involving
medium voltage (1kV–38kV)
switchgear and associated control systems for
utility, industrial, and commercial applications .
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of
power distribution equipment ,
protection and control schemes , and
industry standards
such as
IEC, ANSI, and IEEE . This position requires hands‑on experience in engineering, configuring, and implementing MV switchgear systems, with an emphasis on precision, safety, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop
medium voltage switchgear systems , including control, protection, and metering schemes.
Prepare and review
electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
using AutoCAD or similar design tools.
Specify and select
electrical components
such as circuit breakers, relays, CTs/VTs, PLCs, and protective devices.
Develop
control logic and interlocking schemes
for both mechanical and electrical systems.
Collaborate with
utility and client engineers
for technical discussions, project coordination, and approval processes.
Ensure all designs meet applicable
industry standards
(IEC, ANSI, IEEE),
local electrical codes , and
customer specifications .
Support
panel fabrication, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) , and
field commissioning
activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during manufacturing or site installation.
Generate comprehensive
documentation packages , including Bills of Materials (BOMs), test plans, and operating manuals.
Participate in
continuous improvement initiatives
to enhance design efficiency and reduce costs.
Maintain strict compliance with
safety, quality, and company standards .
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in
Electrical Engineering
(Master’s preferred).
3–7 years
of experience in medium-voltage switchgear design and control systems.
Hands‑on experience with
protection and control devices
such as
SEL, ABB, Siemens, and Schneider .
Familiarity with standards including
ANSI C37 ,
IEC 62271 , and
IEEE 1584 .
Proficiency in
AutoCAD Electrical ,
EPLAN ,
PLC programming
(Siemens/Allen-Bradley), and
HMI/SCADA systems .
Strong understanding of
power systems analysis , including
short-circuit ,
arc-flash , and
coordination studies .
Preferred certifications:
PE License ,
CESCP ,
NFPA 70E , and
OSHA Safety Training .
Combination of
office and manufacturing floor
environments.
Occasional travel (up to
20–30% ) for installation and commissioning at project sites.
Use of
standard PPE
in field environments is required.
