What to Expect Tesla is seeking a Fabrication Lab Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of our Lathrop Megafactory facility. In this critical role, you will guide the latest generation of Energy Products from early concept to full‑scale production, directly supporting our mechanical and design engineering teams. We are looking for a high‑impact leader who can develop their team, drive results through cross‑functional collaboration, and embody Tesla’s mission. The successful candidate will have a history of significant achievements, exceptional drive, and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.

What You’ll Do

Establish, train, and support a team of engineering technicians with a diverse skillset to tackle a broad‑spectrum of high‑level/non‑recurring challenges

Ensure direct reports have everything they need to be successful

Manage additional resources needed to support this effort; including but not limited to lab‑space, parts, tools, test‑equipment, facility infrastructure, and time

Own the execution of the build of initial prototypes, hold timelines and thoroughly report on daily progress and roadblocks

Build “bridges” between remote and local cross‑functional engineering teams (design, reliability, manufacturing, quality), and be a conduit for detailed communication between these groups

Author detailed write‑ups of technical issues; learn and leverage existing communication/data repository software

Step into the technician role as needed; build, repair, drill, grind, sweep…whatever it takes

Establish growth opportunities for direct reports (engineering technicians) to better serve the increasing demands of the project and scope

What You’ll Bring

Minimum 4 years’ experience in R&D electromechanical and fabrication environment, preferably in a hands‑on technical role

Experience in a leadership role (formal preferred, non‑formal ok) during this time

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals

Machine shop and electrical prototyping skills

Highly knowledgeable in HV/LV electronic systems

Experience with Jira, Confluence, Excel, Outlook, Labview, 3DX, highly desired

Experience with HV battery systems highly desired

First aid/AED/CPR training highly desired

Expected Compensation $86,400 - $129,600 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
