JOB SUMMARY
Position Title: Nutritionist
Program: WIC
Classification: Non-Exempt/Full-Time
The Nutritionist will identify and care for the nutritional needs of women, infants and children by conducting nutrition assessment and providing nutrition/breastfeeding counseling and supplemental foods.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Nutrition Assessment and Risk Assignment Conducts nutrition interviews to gather dietary and health information Collects anthropometric and hematological measurements Apply analytical skills to assess growth and determine nutrition risks Nutrition Education and Counseling
Provides nutrition education/counseling based on assessment Guides participants to set realistic nutrition/physical activity goals Developing care plans for ongoing nutrition support Supplemental Food Packages
Creates food packages based on nutritional needs and family/cultural preferences Determines infant formula packages for optimal growth and development Breastfeeding Promotion and Support
Promotes benefits of breastfeeding and provides education to address barriers Offers support to resolve lactation challenges Referrals
Provides referrals to community resources Assists customers with locating medical and dental providers *Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or home economics (with emphasis in nutrition/dietetics) required WIC and/or community nutrition experience preferred **Please see attached for full job description**
