Position Title:

Human Resources Generalist

Function:

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting the administration of the human resource functions including but not limited to the following: Human Resources Management, Benefits Administration, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Hiring, CA Employment Law, and Sexual Harassment Prevention. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the VP of Human Resources.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations & Compliance Serve as a primary resource for employee inquiries, ensuring timely and professional resolution of workplace concerns. Support employee coaching, counseling, and performance improvement processes. Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal, state, and local employment laws (including California-specific regulations). Conduct and document internal investigations as needed; represent the company in unemployment hearings. Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant employee records, including personnel, medical, and I-9 documentation. Maintain required postings and communication boards with current legal and company notices. Recruitment & Onboarding

Partner with the Corporate Recruiter to coordinate all recruiting and onboarding activities. Facilitate new hire orientations, ensuring all onboarding steps-including I-9 verification and Paycor system setup-are completed accurately and timely. Guide new employees through benefits enrollment and respond to questions regarding coverage and eligibility. Collaborate with the VP of HR and benefits broker during open enrollment and plan renewal periods. Payroll & Benefits Administration

Process temporary agency and DVP biweekly/monthly payroll accurately and on schedule. Manage benefit plan administration including enrollments, changes, terminations, and employee inquiries. Notify the benefits broker of all plan status changes and assist with claims resolution. Support the evaluation of benefit plan bids and contribute to cost-effectiveness recommendations. Performance Management & Policy Administration

Support the ongoing feedback and performance appraisal process through the Paycor HCM system. Assist managers in writing and updating job descriptions and evaluating pay structures. Partner with VP of HR and legal counsel to review and update company policies and the employee handbook. Ensure consistent and fair application of company policies and procedures Engagement & Culture

Plan, coordinate, and oversee employee engagement, wellness, and appreciation events. Contribute to initiatives that strengthen company culture, morale, and retention. Offboarding & Recordkeeping

Manage employee separations, including processing final paychecks, conducting exit interviews, and ensuring all termination steps are completed per the Termination Checklist. Maintain current and historical HR reports and records (electronic and physical). Professional Development

Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in HR networks and professional associations. Requirements:

Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience in a manufacturing setting Strong understanding of California employment law and compliance requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Effective interpersonal skills Experience with employee relations management and evaluations Experience creating and implementing policies and procedures Problem solving/analysis skills Benefits administration experience Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Pshychology, or other related field preferred, plus 3-5 years' experience (or equivalent of 4-6 years or greater of hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment) Experience in payroll, employee relations, developing SOPs, benefits administration, I9 administration, and recruiting. Certificates:

PHR or SPHR preferred. Language Skills:

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is mostly sedentary and requires repetitive hand movements, may require some standing, walking, bending, occasionally lifting 25-30 lbs., and filing throughout the work day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to work in front of a computer monitor for extended periods of the day.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanning machines etc.
