Account executive assists producer with the handling and placement of both new and renewal insurance policies. When underwriting renewal business, account executive evaluates the exposures of a given risk and determines the best market for both premium and coverage. To be successful a strong marketplace knowledge is required, which is developed over time and is ever‑changing. Account executive is critical to Jencap retaining business year after year.
The Commercial Account Executive will work a hybrid schedule from our
Worcester
office.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and compare coverage options, policy language, and endorsements for renewal placements across various commercial lines (e.g., Property, General Liability, Auto, Umbrella, Inland Marine)
Underwrite renewal business by assessing risk exposures, loss history, and carrier appetite to ensure suitability and competitive pricing
Analyze new business submissions to determine appropriate markets based on industry class, risk profile, and coverage needs
Rate and prepare insurance quotes using carrier platforms and internal rating tools, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Maintain current knowledge of carrier guidelines, underwriting trends, and market conditions across commercial sectors
Collaborate with Producers to develop strategic placement plans for complex accounts and support client retention efforts
Achieve targeted renewal retention goals through proactive account servicing and relationship management
Ensure adherence to departmental service standards, including timely response to inquiries and accurate documentation
Manage daily workflow to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and handle a high volume of submissions efficiently
Review inspection reports, loss control recommendations, and risk assessments to confirm adequacy of coverage and limits
Ensure compliance with carrier contracts, binding authority guidelines, and internal underwriting procedures
Requirements
2–3 years of insurance experience, preferably in Commercial Lines underwriting, marketing, or account management
Proven ability to market, quote, and bind both Personal and Commercial Lines risks
Strong understanding of insurance terminology, carrier guidelines, and industry practices
Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi‑task, and manage time effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Collaborative team player with a proactive and solution‑oriented mindset
Sound judgment and decision‑making skills when evaluating risk and coverage options
High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
Energetic, positive attitude with a commitment to delivering exceptional service
Prefer certifications such as a P&C license, CIC, or CISR but not required
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job‑relevant education, job‑relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
