Job Description:
The Payroll Manager oversees the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments while maintaining compliance with relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll records, calculating and withholding appropriate taxes, ensuring accurate benefit deductions, and resolving any discrepancies related to employee compensation.
Key Responsibilities: Managing the day-to-day operations of the payroll department, including timekeeping, payroll processing, and distribution of payments. Verifying the accuracy of all payroll data, calculating and deducting taxes, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Maintaining accurate payroll records, generating reports, and preparing for audits. Working closely with HR, accounting, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll processing and address any discrepancies. Keeping abreast of changes in payroll laws and regulations and implementing necessary changes to payroll procedures. Good knowledge of key payroll platforms - ADP, Paypro, etc. Investigating and resolving any payroll-related issues or discrepancies that may arise. Manages employee benefits administration, including the 403(b)-retirement plan in coordination with the Third-Party Administrator (Mutual of America), as well as health, dental, vision, and other insurance plans-ensuring accurate payroll deductions, timely enrollments, and compliance with regulatory requirements and remittances to relevant outside entities. Ability to generate periodic reports from payroll platform. Prepare periodic journal entries for input into the accounting system. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field Minimum Five (5) years of experience in payroll management Required Skills:
Extensive knowledge of payroll processes, including calculations, taxes, deductions, and reporting. Ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and resolve complex payroll issues. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, colleagues, and auditors. Ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and provide performance feedback. Familiarity with payroll software and systems (Workforce, PayPro).
