Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced
IT Project Manager
with a strong background in application development and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-based applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge, outstanding project management skills, and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end project lifecycle for application development initiatives hosted on AWS, from initiation through deployment and support. Collaborate with engineering teams, DevOps, product managers, QA, and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or escalations. Facilitate communication and collaboration between different internal and external teams and departments to ensure project alignment. Proactively identify project risks and issues, developing and implementing effective action plans to minimize their impact. Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that all AWS project deliverables adhere to the highest standards and specifications. Maintain current knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and services to propose suitable solutions and provide technical expertise. Advise on best practices for cloud security, performance, and cost-effectiveness within the AWS environment. Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and issues, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical constraints. Develop detailed project plans, sprint backlogs, and roadmaps, using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and MS Project. Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies. Serve as the primary point of contact between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and timely updates. Ensure AWS best practices are followed for application architecture, deployment, and security. Manage third-party vendors, consultants, and contract developers as needed. Report on project performance, KPIs, and status to senior management and stakeholders. Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing project delivery optimizations. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in IT project management, specifically in application/software development. 3+ years managing projects deployed in or involving Amazon Web Services (AWS). Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and deliver cloud-native applications. Familiarity with CI/CD, microservices, containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless architectures. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello, MS Project, Asana, or equivalent). Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner). PMP or PMI-ACP certification. Experience with hybrid cloud environments, legacy modernization, or application migration to AWS. Background in software engineering or DevOps is a plus. Previous State government/public sector experience highly preferred
