REQUIRED:
Master's degree in Education or related field Current Ohio Principal License 5 to 7 years of experience as a school administrator Prior experience in a supervisory capacity In-depth knowledge of the district's mission, vision and strategic plan Demonstrated knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and its application to behavior and attendance Demonstrated excellence in writing and communication Demonstrated experience in working with students, staff, parents, social service agencies and community groups; Adept at building and sustaining relationships Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, staff, parents, students and community Current Ohio Driver's License; Desired:
Current Ohio Superintendent License 3 to 5 years of experience as a district-level administrator leading areas or programs focused on wrap-around services and student interventions/supports Good personal and decision-making skills Ability to work as a team to impact the mission of Akron Public Schools Ability to identify and define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Ability to read, analyze and interpret local, state and federal regulations and policies Knowledge of professional learning communities;
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Coordinates, monitors, and reviews student enrollment and assignment procedures for all schools in the district. Coordinates the David James Engagement Center to serve as the point of contact for new students and families who may have questions about the district or the enrollment process, as well as current students and families who need support and connection. Coordinate all re-enrollment activity with constant monitoring of attrition and retention. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the enrollment process through preparing and maintaining statistics regarding enrollment, geographical distribution of students and attrition. Coordinates and facilitates on-campus and off-campus enrollment events, including coordinating tours of schools to potential students and parents (both individual and group). In conjunction with the Office of Communications, develops marketing tools, events and advertising campaigns to attract students and families to the district in recruitment and reclamation efforts. Direct all phases of the District's annual Open Enrollment process including policy/procedure development and implementation, marketing strategies, etc. Responds to all new student inquiries with the goal of cultivating relationships of all students and families. Coordinates enrollment functions and student support services, including billing school districts for tuition and authorizing payment to other districts for general education students, administering the home school program, issuing metro bus passes for students, issuing student work permits, managing requests for student transcripts, and providing bus permits. Direct and coordinate the District's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework across schools to ensure alignment, data-driven decision-making, and fidelity of implementation for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions. Review and authorize requests for special assignment of students to schools outside of the recognized attendance zone. Serves as liaison between the Board of Education and accredited agencies with respect to placement of children into foster care Assumes responsibility for implementation and review of the Code of Student Conduct, including coordinating student hearings and the suspension/expulsion appeals process Works collaboratively with the Department of Safety and Security and Juvenile Court to support the implementation of the Code of Student Conduct. Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with the district's equity policy in order to ensure equitable educational access for all students Develops and implements professional development programs on Student Services related topics and board-required employee trainings Provides coaching and support to principals that focuses on family engagement, student enrollment, and prevention strategies for student discipline. Demonstrates high standards of honesty, integrity, flexibility and responsiveness Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent
