Salary Range:
$85,000 – $105,000 per year
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of assigned capital projects at Dartmouth College. Projects typically range from $25k to $3M, covering minor renovations, faculty relocations, and capital renewal of building infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Overall Project Delivery
Manage full execution of small‑scale facility projects such as classroom renovations, flooring replacement, and interior painting.
Coordinate customers, stakeholders, FO&M staff, and contractors to schedule work and maintain budget and schedule.
Keep stakeholders informed, resolve issues, and develop project schedules.
Planning/Programming/Design Phase Management
Define scope of work and prepare RFQs/RFPs for design teams.
Review and coordinate design documents through each planning phase.
Lead internal design review and ensure adherence to Dartmouth Design and Construction Guidelines.
Develop construction safety and operational safety awareness.
Construction/Closeout/Operations Turnover Management
Manage bidding and construction process, schedule meetings, and oversee site inspections.
Provide project status reports, budget updates, and change order negotiations.
Ensure quality control, subcontractor coordination, and timely closeout activities.
Financial Management
Create project estimates and budgets.
Control costs, authorize invoices, and monitor financial reporting.
Negotiate and bid contracts with external vendors.
Jurisdictional Authorities
Coordinate permitting and obtain necessary approvals.
Arrange inspections to secure Certificates of Occupancy.
Miscellaneous
Ensure compliance with College standards, sustainability, and energy efficiency principles.
Culture and Employee Belonging
Promote inclusion, cultural awareness, and a growth mindset.
Participate in CEB initiatives and training.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and five years of construction project experience.
Core Skills
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and challenging constituencies.
Knowledge of design and construction processes.
Familiarity with construction documents, codes, and safety standards.
Proficiency with computer systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Contract interpretation experience.
Field experience on construction sites.
Conflict resolution skills.
