Psychological Assistant - Child Team Support

Job Summary:
As a Psychological Assistant under the guidance of a licensed Psychologist or board-certified Psychiatrist, you will play a vital role in providing mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention services for children and their families facing a variety of mental health challenges. Your collaboration with primary care providers and allied health professionals will help in crafting individualized treatment plans.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective clinical treatment programs in coordination with supervisors, focusing on both acute and chronic mental illnesses. Facilitate outpatient psychotherapy sessions for individuals, couples, families, and groups. Educate and counsel patients and their families about treatment compliance and therapeutic regimens.
Conduct psychological assessments, including administration and interpretation of tests, and prepare treatment plans and case summaries while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to state and NCQA regulations.
Collaborate with fellow physicians for screening and evaluating patients potentially needing psychotropic medications while leveraging community resources to address patient needs.
Provide clinical supervision and training to psychology interns and mental health trainees, and actively participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress.
Offer support to patients' families by explaining treatment processes and guidelines on how they can assist in adherence to recommended therapies.
Utilize community agencies to help meet the treatment needs of patients and their families, while engaging in the development and evaluation of departmental programming.
Report safety concerns to appropriate authorities as mandated.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of one year (1500 hours) completing a psychology doctoral internship.
PhD/PsyD/EdD in Clinical, Counseling, Health, or School Psychology from an accredited institution.
Psychological Assistant Registration (California) is required at hire and must obtain a Psychologist License (California) within 24 months of hire.
Additional Requirements:
Must accumulate at least half of the required supervisory hours annually once hired.
Familiarity with DSM-V for diagnosis and treatment of diverse psychiatric conditions.
Proficient in evidence-based practices, psychotherapy research methods, and the bio-psycho-social models of mental health.
Exhibit strong professional maturity, ethical judgment, and commitment to quality service within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain excellent communication skills.
Able to work within Labor/Management Partnership frameworks.
Upon completing supervised hours, candidates must obtain state licensure within two years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in crisis intervention and psychotherapy.
Experience conducting psychological evaluations, including the administration and interpretation of psychological tests.
Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and quality service in a multidisciplinary setting.
Proficient in diagnosing and developing effective treatment plans with accuracy.
