Job Summary:

In a Consultant-Liaison role, you will evaluate and diagnose Health Plan members seen in primary care who are experiencing mental disorders or behavioral conditions impacting their medical conditions. Essential Responsibilities: Apply Health Psychology principles to create, implement, coordinate, and assess treatment plans for referred members, including crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, psychoeducation groups, and case management. Prepare clear and concise intake evaluations and treatment plans, while maintaining ongoing confidential progress records in accordance with state and NCQA regulations. Provide education and support to members and their families, enhancing adherence to medical and behavioral treatment plans. Co-manage medical conditions using nonpharmacologic and behavioral interventions to optimize physician time and develop appropriate patterns of utilization. Administer and evaluate psychological and neuropsychological tests on a limited basis. Collaborate with physicians to screen and evaluate patients for psychotropic medications, within the scope of practice. Offer consultation and training to other members of the APC team in mental health, behavioral medicine, and health psychology. Assist in program development and conduct program evaluation and outcome assessment as needed. Act as a liaison and refer to the Psychiatry Department, Chemical Dependency Services, Behavioral Health Education, specialty behavioral medicine services, and other Medical Teams as appropriate. Secondary Functions: Embedded within Adult and Family Medicine. Basic Qualifications: Experience: N/A Education: PhD/PsyD/EdD in Clinical Counseling, Health or School Psychology from an accredited college or university. License, Certification, Registration: Psychologist License (California) required within 6 months of hire; National Provider Identifier needed at hire. Additional Requirements: Demonstrated clinical experience, including diagnosis, crisis intervention, brief individual and group psychotherapy, and collaboration with medical personnel. Strong knowledge of state regulations and APA standards related to client treatment, patient rights, and confidentiality. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a primary care setting. If not licensed in CA at hire, must hold a license in another U.S. state and practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (maximum 180 days, subject to specifics). Ability to work within a Labor/Management Partnership environment. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with psychopharmacology and a health psychology background is preferred. Experience in a multidisciplinary setting is preferred.
