Leadership
Be a collaborative team player, working with and training the team daily to deliver the best Member experience. Empower and delegate to the tennis team so operations run smoothly in HP's absence. Actively recruit, develop, and build the team to achieve high membership satisfaction. Demonstrate a passion and aptitude for teaching and training all tennis service personnel. Consistently evaluate staff performance, ensuring high standards of conduct, appearance, service, and cleanliness. Maintain and assess operating standards to ensure consistent execution at a high level. Collaborate with food and beverage managers to deliver a cohesive Member and guest experience. Engage with Members and staff to build trust through visibility, consistency, and improved operations. Stay current with new trends in tennis and instruction. Be present during peak business hours. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture. Operations
Provide a minimum of 30 hours of instruction and 20 hours of supervisory duties each week. Plan, lead, and direct instructional programs for all ages and skill levels in both tennis and pickleball. Conduct private and semi-private lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and special events. Develop and oversee junior and adult tennis and pickleball programs, including player development initiatives. Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate tennis instructors, assistant professionals, and other tennis staff. Ensure courteous, professional service for all members and guests. Collaborate closely with other club departments and professionals to ensure a cohesive experience. Represent the club at local, state, and national tennis or pickleball events, as approved. Organize, administer, and officiate tournaments, exhibitions, and social events. Enforce club tennis and pickleball policies and procedures. Perform basic equipment maintenance, such as racket stringing and light repairs. Coordinate court maintenance and cleanliness with Grounds and Maintenance departments. Contribute tennis-related content to the club newsletter and manage program communications. Maintain accurate inventory control and report results as required. Develop and promote an annual calendar of tennis and pickleball activities. Coordinate with Food & Beverage and Catering teams for event support. Ensure employee compliance with club policies and applicable employment laws. Maintain a visible presence on the courts during peak hours. Attend staff and management meetings. Complete other assignments as directed by the General Manager. Financial
Maintain accurate inventory control and report results regularly. Transfer all tennis shop charges to the accounting department promptly and accurately. Develop and manage the tennis department budget, taking corrective actions as needed to meet financial goals. Keep precise records of all lessons, clinics, and programs; submit monthly written reports. Inspect and ensure proper maintenance of all tennis facilities and related areas. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership or racquets management experience. Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain players of all skill levels. Certification with either Racquets Sports Professional Association (RSPA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). Player ability is equal to the NCAA Division I level. Experience at a private country club or racquet club as a tennis professional. An undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management is desirable. Two to three years of competitive playing experience and/or tennis supervisory experience. Experience running a junior development program or academy. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to control swing speed during instruction or play with less experienced players. Sufficient stamina to work outdoors for extended periods in extremely hot or humid conditions. Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, and perform repetitive movements for several hours. Regular use of light machinery, hand tools, and sports equipment. Frequent lifting and moving of equipment or other objects.
