Position Summary The Manager of Instruction provides direct leadership and operational support to the Instruction Department within GradSolutions’ virtual dropout recovery program. Reporting to the Director of Instruction, this role ensures instructional excellence, mentor collaboration, and a positive student experience through strong systems oversight, proactive problem-solving, and data-driven leadership. The Manager of Instruction serves as a bridge between teachers, mentors, students, and families — supporting the department’s mission to engage, empower, and graduate every student. This position plays a key role in new-employee training, professional development, compliance with instructional processes, and maintaining alignment with GradSolutions academic integrity and standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
New Employee Training & Onboarding
Serve as the Trainer and point of contact for all new instructional employees.
Create and manage individualized training schedules and onboarding timelines in collaboration with the Director of Instruction.
Oversee onboarding progress, identify training gaps and departmental bandwidth, and adjust plans to ensure smooth integration.
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments (Assessment/Curriculum, Student Support, Mentors, and IT) to ensure alignment in training content and systems access.
Maintain and update onboarding materials and the Instructional Resources.
Staff and Mentor Support
Serve as the first point of contact for mentor employees regarding instructional concerns, student issues, and parent communications.
Handle student, parent, or mentor complaints and issues in a calm, solution-oriented, and customer-focused manner.
Collaborate with mentors and teachers to facilitate academic integrity intervention meetings when student coursework violations occur.
Conduct employee performance reviews (30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins) in partnership with the Director of Instruction.
Instructional Oversight & Compliance
Attend IEP and MTSS meetings when the assigned teacher is unable to attend to ensure continued compliance and student support.
Oversee assigned content-area PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) and lead PD coaching and collaboration sessions.
Attend each content PLC twice per month to maintain alignment, address department goals, and support instructional growth.
Serve as Teacher of Record (TOR) for Smart School Exam-Only courses as assigned.
Support the Curriculum Team in troubleshooting staff concerns related to course design, access, and student progress.
Monitor and update teacher roster numbers and student course reports weekly for data accuracy.
Manage Course Adjustment requests in collaboration with ProctorKey.
Professional Development & Department Operations
Collaborate with the Director of Instruction to plan and deliver PD sessions aligned to school improvement initiatives and staff needs.
Create and promote ongoing learning opportunities through Instructional Resources and other virtual learning resources.
Maintain and update Instructional Resources to ensure staff have access to current materials, forms, and procedures.
Oversee and maintain the Help Desk calendar ensuring appropriate staffing and scheduling.
Support department communication and feedback follow-up to ensure excellent service and stakeholder satisfaction.
Data, Reporting, and School Improvement
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly closeout data and ensure accuracy across instructional metrics.
Generate and analyze monthly enrollment and course completion reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Participate in School Improvement Meetings for partner schools, representing the Instruction Department and providing data-informed updates.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Leadership, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
3–5 years of experience in teaching, instructional leadership, or staff development (virtual or dropout-recovery setting preferred).
Proven ability to coach and mentor educators in a performance-driven, student-focused environment.
Strong knowledge of virtual education platforms (Edgenuity, PowerSchool, EdCloud/Salesforce, Mogli Messaging).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service, empathy, and problem-solving.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced virtual environment.
