POSITION SUMMARY
Best Care Plumbing, Heating and Air, a leading provider of essential home services in the Memphis area, is seeking a Controller ("Controller") who will serve as the leader of the finance and accounting function. The Controller will be responsible for planning and executing all accounting and finance initiatives, including management of the monthly close process, preparation of the financial statements, management of payroll preparation / tax compliance, development and presentation of mid-month reporting on key profitability/KPI metrics, management of yearly audit procedures, and facilitation of accounting systems transitions/integration. The Controller will institute and promote the company's vision and core values while ensuring alignment with the General Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities of the Controller will encompass the following:
Prepare monthly financial statements, including monthly close checklist and full reporting package. Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including coordination with the Redwood accounting team. Maintains responsibility for the Company's general ledger, including proper GAAP accounting policies, accrual processes, and associated policies and procedures Interface with other functional groups and departments (service, dispatch, warehouse, customer service, purchasing) to evaluate the financial impact of current/future activities. Detailed management of cash, with oversight of weekly/monthly cash flow forecasting Monitor and report weekly on key performance indicators to identify and report trends in the business requiring review. Update General Manager on financial performance weekly, with full financial statement reviews held monthly, quarterly and annually Coordinate the development of annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and capital plans. Lead, manage, and support direct reports. Data systems / integration oversight to ensure workflows meet the requirements of the finance department, GAAP, and/or the needs of operations. Oversight for Job costing, inventory management, and related audit control. Review and reconcile account balances and oversee billing, credit, and collections. Payroll process oversight and support. Manage the Company's yearly financial audit, and build a working relationship with the auditor Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing changes as necessary REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required. Intermediate FP&A experience. Intermediate or expert proficiency using Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel (pivot tables, x/v-lookup, extensive reporting), is required. Ability to develop accounting processes / procedures from the ground up Strong initiative, ownership, and attention to detail Advanced quantitative skills complemented by intellectual curiosity QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, ADP Payroll, or corresponding ERP Accounting systems preferred. QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of Controller or corresponding managerial accounting experience required CPA Preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Industry CRM experience preferred, i.e., Service Titan Residential home service industry experience: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related technical trade operations environment a plus PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
