Job Summary The Accounts Payable Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances, vendor statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month‑end close procedures, including accruals. A successful accounts payable accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to recognize expense in the correct period.

Essential Duties And Other Responsibilities

Record accounts payable purchase orders, invoices and payments in accordance with established accounting policies and principles.

Monitors and responds to vendor‑related queries.

Post and process accrual journal entries.

Reconcile vendor statements.

Post accounts payable invoices and perform reconciliations.

Assist with reviewing of expenses, complete accounts payable, etc. as assigned.

Month end duties as assigned.

Prepare and reconcile prepaid expense schedules.

Assist with other accounting projects as assigned.

Requirements

Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and expense recognition.

Thorough knowledge and experience with accounts payable process and procedures and controls.

Experience with general ledger functions and the month‑end/year‑end close process.

Hands‑on experience with accounting software packages, (Microsoft Dynamics NAV or other ERP system).

Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Education / Experience

1‑3 years of Accounts Payable and month‑end close experience is required.

Strong preference for related clinical trial industry experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Possess strong abilities in organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to integrate and coordinate diverse areas management.

Previous experience working closely with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance related issues.

Ability to collaborate with staff and leadership, to timely accomplish tasks and responsibilities.

Strong communication skills.
