Procurement Specialist Overview The Procurement Specialist is responsible for assisting in the management of sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of materials, components, and services to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures cost‑effective purchasing while maintaining quality and company standards. The ideal candidate brings strong supplier management skills, a strategic mindset, and experience in a fast‑paced, manufacturing environment.
Key Essential Functions / Duties
Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and service.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors under the guided direction of leadership to ensure strategic alignment and compliance with organizational standards.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
Collaborate with Operations, Quality, R&D, and Finance to align purchasing with business needs.
Support cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Assist in forecasting and inventory planning to ensure supply continuity.
Participate in cross‑functional projects related to procurement and supply chain optimization.
Education / Experience / Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing or co‑manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of sourcing strategies, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.
Preferred Skills
Certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, CPIM).
Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience with food manufacturing.
Familiarity with global sourcing and logistics.
