JOB SUMMARY The Stress Engineer is responsible for the structural certification aircraft interior units, including all supporting stress analysis. The role will present analysis in Interface Loads Reports or Stress Analysis Reports and create static test plans to certify aircraft interior units via static testing. The ideal candidate must be able to determine specific certification requirements from FAA and customer documentation and should possess the motivation to complete projects on time and represent the company's core values. The Stress Engineer participates in the development of new products, technical proposals in order to enable the company to capture new and additional business, and the preparation and presentation of Design Reviews. This role directs the evaluation and approval of repair procedures.
Note: The primary between job levels tie to skill level, complexity of the problem solving, and years of experience. Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
Determine structural certification path for installations, units, and components
Carry out preliminary and detailed stress analysis of aircraft interior units and components using FEA (FEMAP/NASTRAN) and hand calculations
Prepare interface loads reports and static test plans/reports, stress analysis reports, comparative analysis reports, etc.
Manage static testing efforts, including instructing the technician on the setup and verifying its accuracy prior to start of static testing, interfacing with the DER to coordinate static testing and resolve any deviations from the test plan. Assist technician with fabrication of the setup as needed
Acts as primary interface with customer stress engineers to identify and assist in articulation of customer requirements and priorities; discuss and resolve technical/program issues and problems and provide contract status and updates
Identify, evaluate, establish and implement alternative courses of action in response to changing customer focus, requirements, or needs relating to structural analysis
May act as a functional lead over other stress engineers on one or more projects
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Maintain a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all Company policies and procedures.
Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline is required
Master’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline is desired
Experience:
Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.
Level I: 0-2 years of engineering experience
Level II: 2-7 years of engineering experience
Level III: 7+ years of experience
SKILLS
Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, a sense of urgency and sensitivity to deadlines, and detail oriented.
Operational knowledge of all certification test equipment
Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to analyze, regulatory requirements and advisory materials
Technical writing ability
Ability to communicate and present both orally and written
Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Detailed knowledge of TSO processes and general FAA regulations (level II/III)
Detailed knowledge of dynamic, static, and flammability testing processes and procedures (level II/III)

Level II: Direction is provided in terms of tasks and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion on how well objectives have been met. Will autonomously work on routine programs / tasks with frequent status updates to supervisor. Will be provided with additional guidance on more complex or non-routine tasks.
Level III: Direction is provided in terms of tasks and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion on how well objectives have been met. Will work autonomously with only occasional status updates with supervisor.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
Level I: N/A
Level II / III: May oversee the work of others. Assist in the training and coaching of other team members.

Salary Range Transparency:
$80,000 - $130,000 annually
