Senior Technical Product Manager, Data Platform As a Senior Product Manager at Tempus, you’ll be on the front lines of our battle to develop and deliver cutting‑edge technology into the hands of clinicians. The software we’re developing is the culmination of input from scientists, clinicians, pathologists, engineers, data scientists and top academic oncology centers. We’re expanding our team of product managers who bring those inputs together to design, scope and build solutions to some of the toughest problems in cancer care.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our Developer Experience team with a focus on building and scaling the internal tools that power developer productivity. You'll own products like our FHIR‑based APIs, On‑Prem Connectivity and Integrations Console tools, and help evolve our internal platform to support faster, safer, and more delightful development. A key focus is identifying opportunities to integrate generative AI into our developer workflows.

What You’ll Do

Immerse yourself in the tough problems we’re solving, and team with scientists, engineers, ML/AI engineering teams, and designers to develop elegant software solutions.

Define and own the product strategy for our Data Platform team, with a focus on API‑driven design and our internal admin portal.

Improve developer productivity of subject matter experts developing and deploying code on our platform.

Champion developer empathy across the team, ensuring that developer workflows are efficient, consistent, and scalable.

Identify and prioritize opportunities to leverage generative AI to reduce cognitive load, automate repetitive tasks, and improve the developer experience.

Define and track KPIs to measure the impact of internal tooling on the developer experience.

Own the product roadmap for Tempus’ developer experience team, and partner with Product Managers and the Director of Product to execute quarterly and sub‑quarterly goals.

Be a key player in defining business requirements, project execution plans, and launch strategy.

Conduct deep product analysis and use data to guide the short‑ and long‑term roadmap.

Own stakeholder communication and expectation management around roadmap and delivery timelines.

Lead operational change management for production changes and related workflow impacts.

Qualifications

5+ years of technical experience in product management or building software, with at least 2 years focused on developer tools, platforms or infrastructure.

Experience managing SDKs, APIs or CLI tools used by developers.

Experience working with agile software development teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to act as a translator among diverse teams.

Experience in cloud infrastructure, SaaS or artificial intelligence/machine learning is a plus.

Salary: Illinois (CHI): $110,000‑$160,000; New York City (NYC): $125,000‑$175,000.
