The Economic Development Division is seeking a part-time Administrative Aide. The Economic Development Division's focus is on promoting long-term prosperity and sustainable growth. We serve as a central hub for business support, retention, and expansion, fostering entrepreneurship and attracting new investments to strengthen the city's economic competitiveness. Fort Lauderdale is rapidly emerging as a model city for sustainable and inclusive economic development. This position may perform word processing, printing and collating documents, scheduling appointments, performing light bookkeeping, coordinating with other departments and completing any other assigned projects and tasks. This is an "at-will" position up to 32 hours weekly and is not subject to Civil Service Rules or any collective bargaining agreement. Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. The omission of a function does not preclude management from assigning essential duties not listed herein if such duties relate to the position. Essential job functions include: Performs clerical duties in support of an assigned area of responsibility Produces a wide variety of reports, letters, spreadsheets, data entries, memoranda and statistical charts Provides front counter assistance and screens office and telephone callers Responds to requests for information, accepts payments and resolves complaints Prepares and disseminates information through email Creates and submits reports as required Operates a variety of office equipment including copiers, facsimile machine and computer Performs data input and retrieval Maintains inventory and orders supplies as needed Processes purchase orders and requisitions Prepares a variety of documents for the purchase of supplies and equipment Sends certified mail correspondence Reconciles P-Cards/Depart Purchasing Card statements Receives and processes incoming invoices Prepares and disseminates Informational bulletins and memorandums Maintains department files, records and rosters Prepares and archives closed files for retention and files required yearly reports Performs related work as required Minimum job requirements include: High school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of 3 years administrative or clerical work experience. Minimum of 1 year experience working in an economic development, business assistance, or community engagement setting. Familiarity with municipal operations or business licensing processes. Excellent technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Typing skills of at least 40 words per minute accurately. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment (copier, computer, fax, etc.). Preferred qualifications include: Bilingual Spanish or Creole fluency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand for brief periods of time.
