Job Summary The Technical Support Agent/Classroom AV Specialist provides front-line support for classroom technology, computer systems, and AV equipment to ensure seamless academic and business operations. This role requires adaptability, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service. The agent will support in-session classes, curricular and administrative events, and collaborate with IT leadership and stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain technology solutions across the college.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as front-line support for ABAC Office of Technology Services (OTS), responding promptly and professionally to IT helpdesk requests.
Provide technical assistance for hardware, software, operating systems, and classroom AV systems, including digital projection, audio/video equipment, video teleconferencing (VTC), and advanced lab devices.
Troubleshoot and repair computer software, hardware, and classroom AV equipment, documenting all work performed.
Configure, install, and maintain computing hardware, AV systems, and cloud-based services (SaaS).
Support college Learning Management Systems (LMS) and assist with computer and laptop support for faculty, staff, and students.
Collaborate with the OTS Leadership, and other stakeholders to design, purchase, configure, and distribute IT assets to meet college objectives.
Monitor and maintain endpoint inventory, ensuring devices are patched, secure, and performing efficiently.
Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate teams or management and report recurring problems to identify and resolve patterns.
Assist in creating FAQs and user self‑service documentation for clients.
Document internal procedures and maintain daily performance of computer and AV systems.
Stay current with IT and AV developments, including new operating systems, applications, conferencing systems, video production workflows, and equipment.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Associate degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, AVIXIA, ITIL, or Microsoft preferred.
Strong analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
Physical ability to carry equipment (lift up to 40 lbs.), climb ladders, and work in awkward, tight, or high spaces.
Knowledge of iOS, O365, GPO, endpoint/cloud security compliance, and digital audio/video technologies (Dante, NDI, DMX lighting) preferred.
Experience with remote diagnostic tools, helpdesk request tracking, and hands‑on support in classroom environments.
Ability to handle privileged, sensitive, and confidential information; adherence to standard non‑disclosure agreements required.
