Job Summary Under close supervision, to perform specific recreational support functions from general clerical to leading group activities for children and adults; and to perform other job related work as required.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Participates in the administration of a variety of recreation and community services programs; performs group activities leadership in outdoor and indoor adult and children activities; assist in the organization, instruction and playing of sports activities; assist in conducting special events, meets, tournaments and holiday activities; perform a variety of office support duties including collection and maintenance of fees and corresponding reports, maintenance of supplies and materials; may perform special research projects and preparation of corresponding reports; may operate automated office equipment; provide assistance and information to the general public; scorekeep and officiate youth and/or adult sports programs; assist in publication of recreational activities; perform a variety of general maintenance and custodial duties of recreational facilities and parks; perform basic facility repair and maintenance duties including janitorial duties; maintain safe work practices; maintain routine attendance and participant progress records as necessary; check out and check in recreation and athletic equipment, games, materials and supplies.
The incumbent may work a varying schedule of hours which may include nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
This Position is limited to 988 hours per Fiscal Year.
Knowledge Of
Basic objectives, methods, and techniques of planned recreation;
Sports, games, and group activities; suitable for children;
Safety practices;
Knowledge of the equipment facilities, operations, and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program, all duties listed and described in Recreation Leader I position.
Ability To
Organize and supervise the activities of groups using recreational facilities;
Conduct recreational activities;
Keep simple records and prepare reports and notices;
Establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships;
Ability to communicate effectively orally, and in writing, perform all duties listed and described in Recreation Leader I position.
Typical Qualifications Two (2) years of work experience in recreation and community services is desirable. Ability to deal effectively with public, effectively communicate orally and in writing, and follow directions. Direct experience in leadership volunteer work or recreation activities is required.
