Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
HVAC/Plumbing Estimator
to join our preconstruction team in
Irwindale, CA . This role is responsible for accurately preparing cost estimates for mechanical and plumbing systems in commercial, industrial, and multifamily construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems, solid analytical skills, and the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review and interpret mechanical and plumbing plans, specifications, and scope documents Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labor, material, and equipment Solicit and evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotes and compare proposals for scope and compliance Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during the bidding and budgeting process Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and value engineering alternatives Track historical data for cost analysis and benchmarking Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as needed Assist in project handoff and transition from estimating to operations teams Maintain estimating database and documentation for future reference
Qualifications and Requirements
3-5+ years of estimating experience in HVAC and/or plumbing systems Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, installation methods, and current building codes Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, QuickPen/Trimble, FastEST, or PlanSwift Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with Procore or similar platforms is a plus Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and time-management abilities Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) Relevant trade certifications or journeyman experience a plus Benefits
