Role Summary:
The I&S Drilling Superintendent/Manager oversees the management of Wellsite Supervisors in integrated drilling projects, including geothermal and conventional operations. Responsible for multiple wellsites, this role acts as the main operations leader, coordinating all aspects of drilling operations, services, and third-party contractors. The position requires strong leadership, ensuring strict adherence to HSE standards, operational procedures, and safety protocols. The goal is to drive flawless HSE performance, on-time delivery, operational consistency, and service delivery excellence.
Lead and promote a strong safety culture at all wellsites and office environments, ensuring accident/incident-free operations.
Participate in and lead HSE investigations, implementing follow-up and remedial actions.
Implement and ensure compliance with HSE Emergency Response Systems, including geothermal-specific hazards such as high-temperature zones and corrosive fluids.
Supervise and provide guidance to Wellsite Supervisors on daily operations.
Apply drilling engineering principles, including well planning, drill string design, downhole dynamics, pore/fracture pressure analysis, drilling fluid management, hydraulics, and drill bit selection.
Support preparation of operational budgets and utilization forecasts.
Plan and monitor maintenance jobs and equipment inspections according to standards and procedures.
Ensure adherence to well control best practices and industry standards for geothermal drilling.
Provide advanced guidance on directional drilling, horizontal and extended-reach wells, cementing, casing/liner running, and fishing operations.
Manage multiple rigs simultaneously and support the implementation of new technologies and processes.
Analyze complex operational problems and provide solutions based on extensive knowledge of tools, services, and wellsite operations.
Advise contractors and third-party resources as needed.
Ensure operations comply with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Act as a front‑line trainer, coach, and assessor for rig personnel; identify training needs and support competency development programs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
20+ years of relevant experience, including 10+ years as a Wellsite Leader and 5+ years in geothermal drilling operations.
Valid Well Control Certificate Level 4 IWCF or equivalent for geothermal drilling.
Demonstrated ability to work across multiple fields and rig locations, providing seamless operational coordination.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with ability to influence and motivate others.
Comprehensive knowledge of well control practices, field service operations, and maintenance activities for geothermal wells.
Proven problem‑solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.
Ability to foster collaboration across multiple teams and external parties.
Desired Skills and Characteristics:
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Situational leadership skills in diverse geographic and cultural environments.
Strong computer, presentation, and reporting skills.
Advanced knowledge in:
