Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead delivery of drinking water projects including evaluation and detailed design of intake structures, surface and ground water treatment plants, water reuse systems, storage, pumping, and transmission and distribution projects.
Prepare master planning reports and documentation required for grants and loans.
Act as a self‑motivated subject matter expert participating in local professional organizations, preparing and presenting market‑specific papers and presentations.
Operate within the One Water paradigm, integrating smart water systems, process automation, and machine learning into water production and distribution design.
Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and other engineering design tools.
Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, I&C, structural, and CAD disciplines to produce plans and specifications.
Assist in marketing business opportunities with key clients and respond to RFP/RFQs.
Provide marketing, technical leadership, and support during procurement and execution of projects.
Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with clients.
Assist clients with permitting, property acquisition, and stakeholder involvement.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams.
Consistently manage and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Mentor staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
At least 10 years of relevant experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license; Illinois PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Familiarity with water/wastewater networks in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and/or Wisconsin.
Regional expertise in water supply, treatment, storage, and/or distribution.
Active participation in professional organizations.
Strong verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Excellent technical writing skills.
Strong client relationship skills.
Excellent design team leadership skills.
Additional Qualifications
Master of Science (MS) or PhD in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
