The State of Hawaii, Department of Health is recruiting for a Registered Nurse position. The hiring process is part of the Department of Health’s Hiring Innovation for Rapid Employment (HIRE) Pilot Project, which defers traditional screening of applications until after a selection has been made. Location: Island of Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, Molokai. Salary: Level II $7,718 per month (SR-18, Step B); Level IV $10,117 per month (SR-22, Step B); Level V $10,943 per month (SR-24, Step B). Duties Summary

General duty involves direct and indirect nursing care to patients in hospitals, infirmaries, health care facilities, or community settings. Positions may be assigned to one or rotate among various clinical services such as obstetrics, pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, outpatient, geriatrics, tuberculosis, psychiatric, or Hansen’s disease. Public health nursing roles focus on case finding, health guidance, teaching, and liaison with community health services to maintain health and prevent illness. Alternate or program specialist positions coordinate educational and consultative services within specific nursing specialities, assist in developing and improving nursing programs, and supervise subordinate nursing and clerical personnel. Minimum Qualification Requirements

General Experience Requirement:

All applicants must meet

all

following requirements: License to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Hawaii. Specialized Experience Requirement:

Professional work experience as a registered nurse is mandatory. For public health nursing positions, applicants must have the experience levels shown below: Level II – 0 years Level III – 6 months Level IV – 1 year 6 months Level V – 2 years 6 months For all positions, applicants for Registered Nurse IV and V must have one year of satisfactory work experience comparable to the next lower level in State service. Additional experience is required for supervisory duties in hospital, institutional, clinic, or public health settings. Applicants for Registered Nurse VI must demonstrate one year of experience comparable to Registered Nurse V or two years of experience comparable to Registered Nurse IV. Administrative Aptitude:

Applicants for Registered Nurse VI positions must demonstrate administrative aptitude, evidenced by experience in planning, organizing, evaluating, and managing programs, policies, or budgets. Substitution Allowed:

Possession of an accredited master's degree or a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree may be substituted for one year of experience. Selective Certification:

Some positions may require specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities. Selective certification requirements may be established and limited to eligible applicants with pertinent training and experience. Legal Authorization
