Job Summary The Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager oversees billing, collections, and cash application functions. The role ensures accurate invoicing, timely receipt of payments, resolution of outstanding receivables, and maintenance of customer account integrity, working closely with internal departments and external customers to promote timely collections while maintaining positive client relationships.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Lead, train, and develop AR staff, providing support and performance evaluations.

Manage day‑to‑day operations of billing, collections, and cash posting.

Ensure adherence to company credit and collections policies.

Monitor customer account activity and aging reports, ensuring accurate reporting and timely follow‑up.

Coordinate with project managers and sales teams to resolve billing disputes.

Recommend improvements to AR processes and implement best practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate customer invoices.

Ensure timely collection of accounts receivable and effective aging of accounts.

Manage daily cash application and reconcile receipts to bank deposits.

Research and resolve payment discrepancies and customer billing questions.

Generate weekly and monthly AR aging reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Monitor credit limits and perform credit checks on new customers as needed.

Collaborate with the Controller and finance team to support audits, month‑end closings, and account reconciliations.

Maintain organized AR records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Escalate delinquent accounts appropriately and assist in legal collections if required.

Other duties as assigned.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Certification in credit/collections management (e.g., CBA, CBF) is a plus.

Experience

5+ years of experience in accounts receivable or billing.

2+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead AR role.

Construction or project‑based industry experience preferred.

Strong understanding of revenue recognition and job cost billing.

Required Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of accounting principles related to receivables and collections.

Strong leadership and team development skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.

Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

Sedentary work; lift up to 10 pounds occasionally; negligible force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Repetitive motion; substantial movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

Capable of driving a vehicle.

Office setting with possible 8‑ or 12‑hour shifts; fast‑paced professional environment.
