Job Summary The MODEL-AD (Model Organism Development and Evaluation for Late-Onset Alzheimer's Disease) program at Indiana University Indianapolis is seeking a motivated and dependable part-time Laboratory Assistant to support ongoing Alzheimer's research utilizing mouse models. The Laboratory Assistant will assist with technical tasks related to both a preclinical drug study and primary cell culture experiments. The position will be supervised by senior technical staff within the MODEL-AD research team.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

Assist with preparation of drug solutions, labeling, and organization of study materials.

Prepare and fill syringes for dosing studies following established protocols.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces and equipment.

Assist with counting and documenting cells for primary culture work.

Help with preparation of reagents and general laboratory upkeep.

Follow all laboratory safety procedures and animal research compliance standards.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support ongoing research projects.

Qualifications EDUCATION

Required

Bachelor's degree in biology, neuroscience, or a related life sciences field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

Experience working in a research or teaching laboratory environment

SKILLS

Required

Strong attention to detail

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately

Good organizational and communication skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team

Preferred

Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques (pipetting, solution preparation, sterile technique)

Extensive prior laboratory experience is not required. Training will be provided. This position is ideal for recent graduates seeking hands‑on research experience.

Work Location Indiana University Indianapolis

Advertised Salary $20.00 per hour

Work Hours Minimum of 20 hours per week, with availability on at least 3 weekdays preferred.
