R&D Laboratory Technician
Salary: $20.00 to $30.00
Position Summary The R&D Laboratory Technician will support experimental work related to homogenization processes, operation of analytical equipment (viscometer, FTIR), and sensory assays. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and works across multiple types of lab instrumentation and testing workflows. This is a temporary 3‑month contract, with potential extension.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Preparation & Routine Testing
Support sensory testing workflows, including preparing samples, organizing panels, and presenting data under the guidance of senior scientists.
Assist in running application compatibility assays across various conditions.
Instrument Operation & Support
Use benchtop equipment to conduct small-scale R&D experiments.
Assist with instrumental analyses, including microplate-based assays, viscosity testing, and subjective assays.
Experimental Execution
Follow established protocols for sensory tests, including structured data collection and reporting.
Execute high-throughput assays efficiently while maintaining accurate records and ensuring data quality.
Documentation & Reporting
Record experimental procedures, instrument parameters, and results clearly and systematically.
Communicate findings to the R&D team in a timely manner to support decision-making.
Laboratory Operations & Maintenance
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with all safety and hygiene procedures.
Prepare any solutions or bases needed for experiments.
Support inventory management, including tracking, labeling, and replenishing laboratory supplies and chemicals.
Manage general lab upkeep and waste disposal.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of laboratory experience in food science, biotechnology, analytical chemistry, or related fields.
Bachelor's degree or 1‑2 years of laboratory experience in place of a bachelor's. Recent graduates with lab experience are welcomed.
Comfortable operating benchtop instruments and following instructions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently after training.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to document and relay experimental results clearly.
Team-oriented, curious, and eager to learn new methods.
Interest in highly regulated industries and overcoming external challenges amid constant change.
Experience with AI tooling for work or personal use, or willingness to learn quickly and apply AI regularly.
On-site ability in CO or CA.
