Description Assess individuals from pediatric to geriatric groups using standardized methods and observational assessments. Craft individualized treatment strategies that not only meet immediate needs but also foster long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing advancements. Deliver targeted speech therapy that emphasizes fluency, voice, language, and swallowing skills. Work alongside physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregivers to ensure a unified approach to patient care. Provide education to patients and their families, equipping them to continue progress beyond sessions. Conduct speech therapy evaluations and interventions in inpatient settings when necessary, maintaining a comprehensive care transition. Keep thorough and timely records in accordance with regulations and best practices. Engage in continual professional growth through educational opportunities and collaborations with peers. Education
A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Successful completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) for those not yet ASHA-certified. Certifications
State licensure as a
Speech Language Pathologist . Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment. Skills
Adequate knowledge of evidence-based treatments for a range of ages, with a solid foundation in developmental and acquired communication and swallowing disorders. Strong communication abilities for connecting with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams. Flexibility to modify therapy strategies to accommodate varying cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Sharp clinical judgment and adept problem-solving skills.
