Job Summary The Landscape Maintenance Foreman is responsible for the successful execution and completion of interim, post‑construction, and ongoing maintenance contracts. The role requires adherence to established schedules, standards, and procedures to deliver high‑quality services. This is a hands‑on foreman position reporting to the General Superintendent.
Responsibilities
Monitor sites for quality and follow up with crews on performance improvements
Ensure client satisfaction at each site
Assign daily tasks to maintenance crews
Communicate opportunities and concerns to the General Superintendent
Conduct and oversee execution of minor enhancements of projects
Complete daily paperwork accurately and on time
Lead and motivate the team, demonstrating strong leadership and safety practices
Demonstrate proper pruning, fertilization, and herbicide application for trees, shrubs, and turf
Maintain equipment hygiene to prevent pest and disease spread
Install, wire, program, and audit commercial irrigation systems, including controllers and sensors
Perform irrigation audits and recommend system upgrades
Obtain permits, file pesticide use reports, and maintain regulatory records
Supervise pest control operations, ensuring safe handling of chemicals and compliance with PPE use
Manage pesticide inventory and storage security
Organize yard nursery for planting punch‑lists
Assess employee performance and recommend development plans to the General Superintendent
Ensure adherence to company policies and promote a culture of safety
Communicate equipment repair needs to shop personnel
Safely operate commercial landscape equipment and tools
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; at least 10 years of related landscape work experience
DPR Qualified Applicator Licence (QAL) required at hire
Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) can be obtained within 1 year
Must be able to read, write, and speak in English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Basic math and plan reading skills
Strong reasoning ability for multi‑step instructions
Basic tablet and smartphone computer skills
Exceptional integrity, personal drive, and self‑direction
Valid California driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record
