Sr. Director, Analyst – Public Cloud Sourcing Expert Focus (Remote: US) Join Gartner’s global research community as a Senior Director Analyst focused on public cloud sourcing and transformation. About the Role Gartner seeks a Senior Director Analyst to provide business and technology insights services to global clients in

Sourcing, Procurement, and Vendor Management . This role focuses on

public cloud optimization and transformation services (PCOTS)

and requires knowledge and experience in sourcing AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services. You will guide clients through complex IT services buying journeys, help them navigate evolving cloud strategies, optimize costs, and achieve transformational business outcomes. You should also have experience in other IT infrastructure services such as data center outsourcing, managed security services, and digital workplace services. Data and analytics experience and sourcing application services experience would be a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Research and Thought Leadership: Create innovative, thought‑provoking research content and demonstrate thought leadership in establishing provocative research positions and collaborating across the analyst team.

Advisory Services: Provide high‑quality actionable advice through written responses, presentations, webinars, inquiries, and guided client engagement.

Sourcing Strategy and Negotiation: Advise clients on leading end‑to‑end sourcing projects for public cloud services, formulate and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies, identify best‑fit solutions, and lead negotiations for multiyear contracts with favorable pricing, volume discounts, flexible commitments, and optimal SLAs.

Contract Management and Risk Mitigation: Support clients with cost optimization, vendor performance, and risk mitigation; identify and address contractual risks such as rigid renewal terms, audit clauses, and escalations; review and identify gaps in outsourced IT services contracts.

Market Intelligence and Analysis: Continuously monitor cloud pricing trends, vendor discount programs, and contractual terms, and use data sources and benchmark pricing to drive negotiations.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, computer science, or related field (master’s preferred).

15+ years of relevant field or industry experience, including sourcing roles or provider tendering and negotiating IT services delivery.

At least three years of direct experience in IT procurement or strategic sourcing involving cloud contracts with hyperscale vendors like AWS and enterprise software vendors like Oracle.

Proven high‑value public cloud contract negotiation experience with competitive bidding and cost optimization strategies.

Deep knowledge of PCOTS, cloud‑native professional and managed services, hyperscale cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI), and Oracle workload expertise (e.g., PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, E‑Business Suite) preferred.

Required Skills and Analyst Capabilities

Passion and enthusiasm to help sourcing executives and CxO clients with IT services sourcing initiatives.

Intellectual agility to learn new topics, develop expertise, and advise on best practices.

Domain and quantitative expertise: gather and analyze data to drive research insights.

Independent insights for ideation and research sessions.

Client engagement skills, presentation abilities across venues, collaboration, and coaching.

Root‑cause identification, solution framing, workflow prioritization, and team collaboration.

Continuous improvement mindset.

Benefits Work remotely in the United States. Full‑time compensation range: $152,000 – $190,000, with annual bonus and uncapped sales incentive plan. Generous paid time off, 401(k) with $7,200 yearly match, company stock options, and comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
