Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Financial Operations Specialist to deliver advanced financial management and operational support in alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) programs and enterprise initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to contribute within a dynamic, collaborative environment and partner with a diverse team dedicated to mission success. Responsibilities

The Senior Specialist will play a critical role in providing expert analysis, oversight, and execution of financial operations to ensure compliance, efficiency, and strategic alignment. Ongoing responsibilities include driving financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance measurement to support both program-level and enterprise objectives. Working closely with senior leadership, program managers, and cross‑functional teams, the Specialist will help shape decision‑making processes, optimize resource allocation, and ensure financial integrity across operations. Required Skills & Experience

8+ years of experience in financial operations or related functional areas, preferably within DoD or federal programs. Proven expertise in budget formulation, execution, and financial reporting. Strong knowledge of DoD financial management systems, processes, and regulations. Experience supporting projects within one or more of the MDoDS functional areas of sustainment, maintenance, and life cycle support (preferred). Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights. Strong communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting reports to senior leadership. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and enterprise reporting systems. Experience mentoring, training, or guiding less‑experienced financial staff. Lead and oversee financial operations, including planning, budgeting, execution, and reporting. Conduct in‑depth financial analysis to support decision‑making and ensure program and project compliance with DoD standards. Track, monitor, and reconcile expenditures, ensuring alignment with established budgets and funding sources. Prepare financial statements, status reports, and audit documentation as required. Provide recommendations for process improvements, cost savings, and risk mitigation strategies. Coordinate with program managers, contracting officers, and leadership to align financial operations with project objectives. Ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations, DoD financial policies, and internal controls. Mentor and provide guidance to junior financial staff to strengthen team capabilities. Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferred). Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) – preferred. Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) – preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – preferred. DoD FM Certification (Levels II/III as applicable) – preferred. Benefits

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and may be required to lift up to thirty pounds as necessary.
