Striping Technician
The Striping Technician provides for the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through the installation and maintenance of roadway pavement markings and documentation of those markings. We require a high school diploma or GED, one year of experience in traffic control or traffic operations, including installation and maintenance of traffic control devices, or two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or construction of roads. Must possess or have the ability to obtain an American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Flagging certification within six months of hire. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire. We also value experience driving a Paint Stripe Truck and/or a Chase Truck, completion of IMSA Level 1 Signs & Markings, completion of "ATSSA Flagger" and "ATSSA Traffic Control Technician," and a Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement. Job contributions include installing and maintaining roadway pavement markings, operating a 2 ton paint stripe truck, chase truck, Sweeper, or other vehicles and equipment as needed, loading and unloading equipment and materials, performing pre-check and pre-inspection of vehicles, reading maps, planning routes, prioritizing assigned tasks, cleaning, and maintaining paint system, interpreting and/or drawing traffic diagrams and/or sketches of pavement marking layouts, interpreting and marking roadways for the application of the appropriate roadway markings, assessing and reporting roadway and traffic control conditions, operating and maintaining two-way radio contact with MCDOT Dispatch, and other job duties as assigned. Working conditions include exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly, being subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration, being subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel. Machines, tools, equipment, software, and hardware include long line Stripers, Attenuators, Short Line Stripers, Sweepers, hand grinders, vacuum systems, pick-up trucks, hauling trucks, paint shakers, computer systems, Outlook, Cartegraph. Protective equipment required includes steel-toe boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, Type 3 Reflective Vest, and County uniform.
