Network Engineer
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Cleared Network Engineer to support secure VDI network operations and enterprise IT infrastructure for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer in Honolulu, HI. This fully on-site role offers the opportunity to work in a mission-critical Joint Operations Center, supporting both classified and non-classified environments with cutting-edge virtualization, network security, and collaboration technologies. Responsibilities for Network Engineer: Provide Tier 3 technical support and administration for VDI Thin Client networks across secure and non-secure domains. Configure, provision, and optimize VDI systems integrated with VMware, VOIP phones, Microsoft Teams, and video teleconferencing. Deploy and troubleshoot software applications and security patches in compliance with DISA STIGs. Maintain system uptime through proactive monitoring, alerting, and restoration activities. Manage system security and access controls, ensuring compliance with DoD directives and standards. Administer Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, SCCM, and SANs to support enterprise IT operations. Document SOPs, service workflows, and system configurations; report on system status and open issues. Provide technical support to senior leaders in a Joint Operations Center, demonstrating professionalism and polished communication. Support after-hours on-call operations as needed. Qualifications for Network Engineer: U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract. Active DoD Secret clearance required on day one 4-6 years of Tier 3 System or Network Administration experience, focused on VDI networks. Active security certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP). Active CCNP required Proficiency with: Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016/2019 Active Directory and Group Policy VMware and SCCM McAfee products VDI Thin Client networks VOIP phones, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams DISA STIG compliance and documentation SAN configuration and maintenance Ability to obtain IMO Level 4 access from the NEC. Strong communication, customer service, and team collaboration skills. Excellent organizational and analytical abilities. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field. 6-8 years of Network Engineering experience managing complex systems.
