Trades Specialist Lead II
The Department of Facilities Maintenance at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Trades Specialist Lead II. This position will repair, maintain, install, or rebuild all types of HVAC systems and exhaust systems to meet building needs and/or blueprint specifications. Duties will include general upkeep, maintenance, work on all types of refrigeration units, and perform basic sheet metal work both at Health Sciences Center facilities. WVU offers generous benefits, including a 37.5-hour work week, 13 paid holidays, 15 annual leave days per year, 18 sick days per year, and a range of health insurance and other benefits. Wellness programs are also available. Functions as a team leader, providing guidance to journeymen, trades workers, and any other support personnel as required. Follows procedures and makes work assignments to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion ensuring proper quality and quantity. Inspects completed work assignments of journeymen craft workers, trades workers, and helpers to ensure quality control. Ensures that proper safety procedures are used while performing job duties. Receives work orders. Interfaces with Control Center, supervisors, managers, and requesting party to finalize project needs and scope. Assists Supervisor with multi-craft projects related to overall work assignments. Communicates work schedules and goals to employees and customer, creating efficiency and a timely completion of assigned tasks. Determines and recommends to the Manager the needs of the project in regard to crew size, types of crafts, material availability, equipment, paperwork, and safety checks to maintain proper work and material flow in order to maintain schedule. Provide continual updates on the progress of assigned maintenance or construction projects. Maintains the original scope of project to ensure project cost control. Ensures that work group processes all work requests, material requisitions, weekly reports, and invoices necessary to complete assignments. May fill in for supervisor. Must be able to operate computers utilizing various software programs such as building maintenance management programs involving work orders and materials accountability, building support systems and other systems as necessary. Install, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment, fume hoods, exhaust hoods, refrigeration systems, coolers, chillers, sub-zero cooler, and associated hardware. Rebuild pumps, replace seals, troubleshoot various types of equipment.
