Job Summary
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for building and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, cultivating long‑term philanthropic relationships that lead to significant contributions in support of Erlanger Health Systems strategic initiatives. This role is focused on personalized engagement, data‑informed strategy, and collaborative partnership with internal stakeholders to align donor interests with system priorities. The Major Gifts Officer brings a self‑starting, entrepreneurial spirit to the role, thrives in a relationship‑driven environment, and plays a key part in the Foundation’s long‑term sustainability and growth.
Education
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Philanthropy, Public Administration, or related field
Experience
Required:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, including direct donor contact and major gift solicitation
Demonstrated success securing gifts of $25,000 or more
Proficiency in relationship management, donor strategy, and fundraising best practices
Preferred:
Experience in a hospital foundation or healthcare fundraising environment
Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Raisers Edge, Salesforce)
Knowledge of planned giving concepts and legacy fundraising
CFRE (Certified Fund‑Raising Executive) designation
