PICU Travel Nurse Job Details Estimated Weekly Salary: $2090 - $2140 Assignment Length: 13 weeks Start Dates: 11/10/2025 or 11/24/2025 Shifts: Straight nights or rotating shifts accepted Shift Times: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00); Day 4x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00) Hours per Week: 36 Patient Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2, based on patient acuity Unit Size: 25 beds, average daily census of 23 Float Requirement: May float to NICU or Acute Care Pediatrics as needed Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (3 of 6 weekends per contract) Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays Time Off Policy: Only one pre-approved time off is allowed per 13-week contract. No time off is permitted during the first two weeks of the contract. PICU RN Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent PICU RN experience in a hospital or healthcare setting Active Registered Nurse license (Virginia or compact state); pending license accepted but must be in hand before start date BLS and PALS certifications required Epic charting experience preferred BSN preferred Pediatric cardiac nursing experience a plus Ability to float within scope of practice (NICU, Acute Care Pediatrics) Flu vaccine required (no exemptions) Professional references required PICU Nurse Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients, including neonates, infants, children, and adolescents Manage complex medical and cardiac cases, including post-operative care, trauma, respiratory, neuro, and transplant patients Perform advanced nursing skills: ventilator management, central line care, arterial line management, CRRT, ECMO, VADs, and more Administer medications, blood products, and manage sedation as required Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV teams, respiratory therapists, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EHR Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols Participate in unit-based education, orientation, and training modules Float to NICU or Acute Care Pediatrics as needed Apply now to join our dedicated healthcare team and make a difference as a PICU Registered Nurse in Charlottesville, Virginia!
