Pay rate: $30.00 Per Hour Job Summary:

The Substitute Registered Nurse (RN) provides health services to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. The nurse promotes student health, identifies and manages health concerns, administers medications, responds to medical emergencies, and collaborates with school personnel and parents/guardians to support student well-being and access to education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students and staff for illness or injury. Administer prescription and over-the-counter medications according to physician orders and school policy. Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including documentation of care and medication administration. Monitor students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures, allergies) and implement individualized health care plans as directed. Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, including the use of CPR, AED, and first aid measures. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, injuries, or medication issues. Support infection control practices and promote healthy school environments. Collaborate with school staff to ensure students' health needs are addressed to maximize learning. Uphold all state regulations, school policies, and ethical nursing standards. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Current license as a

Registered Nurse (RN)

in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Current certification in

CPR and First Aid ; AED training preferred. Experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing preferred. Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently, remain calm in emergencies, and communicate effectively with children, staff, and families. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and FERPA regulations. Working Conditions: Position requires standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases. Work is performed in a school health office and throughout the school building as needed.
