Pulaski County High School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered
High School Counselor
to join our school counseling team starting 02/01/2026. The ideal candidate will provide academic advising, college and career planning, and social-emotional support to students in grades 9-12. This position works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, families, and community resources to ensure the success and well-being of all students.

Responsibilities Support students in academic planning, course selection, and meeting graduation requirements. Monitor student progress and collaborate on intervention plans when needed. Provide guidance and resources for college, career, military, and workforce pathways. Assist with college applications, scholarship searches, financial aid (FAFSA), and career exploration activities. Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention within professional scope, and refer to outside services as appropriate. Promote a positive, safe, inclusive school environment. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success. Maintain accurate student records and uphold confidentiality and ethical standards. Qualifications Master's Degree in School Counseling or related field required. Must hold or be eligible for a
Virginia School Counselor License . Experience working with high school students preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
