Client Overview:
Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to housing and community programs seeking an experienced
Controller
to oversee accounting and financial operations. This is a great opportunity for a finance leader passionate about supporting meaningful work and organizational growth. Salary/Hourly Rate: $60/hr - $65/hr Position Overview: The Controller will manage the organization’s accounting functions, supervise staff, and ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards. This role partners with senior leadership on budgeting, reporting, and financial planning. Responsibilities of the Controller:
Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, and general ledger.
Lead monthly and annual close processes.
Prepare financial reports and analysis for leadership and Board review.
Manage audits, budgets, and contract/grant reporting.
Monitor cash flow and ensure sound internal controls.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
Required Experience/Skills for the Controller:
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including staff supervision.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with FundEZ, Sage, or QuickBooks.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Controller:
Experience with government-funded programs and audits.
Familiarity with Bill.com or similar financial tools.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
CPA is required.
Master's degree in Accounting is preferred.
