Backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers from NVIDIA, Google, and Meta, Etched is redefining the infrastructure layer for the fastest growing industry in history.
Job Summary
We are seeking a
Platform Engineering BOM Specialist
to own and drive the Bill of Materials (BOM) process across the full product lifecycle — from sub-assemblies to full rack-level systems (L11). This role will serve as the primary interface between Operations, ODM partners, Engineering, and Finance, ensuring BOM accuracy, structure, and scalability as we grow into high-volume production.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives in cross-functional environments where alignment between design, operations, and financial systems is critical.
Key responsibilities
BOM Ownership:
Create, manage, and maintain the complete product BOM structure from sub-assemblies through full L11 rack-level assemblies.
Cross-Functional Interface:
Act as the primary liaison between ODMs, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to ensure BOM accuracy, alignment, and completeness.
System Integration:
Work closely with the PLM system (Teamcenter) and ERP system (NetSuite) to ensure synchronization of BOM data across platforms.
Engineering Collaboration:
Partner with engineering stakeholders to translate design intent into accurate, scalable BOMs.
BOM Tree Strategy:
Define and implement a company-wide BOM tree structure designed to support at-scale, high-volume manufacturing and operations.
Change Control:
Establish and manage change control processes within Teamcenter for BOM updates, revisions, and lifecycle transitions.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify gaps and drive process improvements in BOM management, data integrity, and system integrations.
You may be a good fit if you have
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years experience in BOM management, configuration management, or product lifecycle operations within a hardware or data center systems company.
Deep knowledge of BOM structures (sub-assembly through rack-level systems).
Hands-on experience with Teamcenter (PLM) and NetSuite (ERP) or similar enterprise systems.
Strong understanding of engineering change control processes and configuration management principles.
Proven track record of working cross-functionally with engineering, finance, operations, and manufacturing/ODM partners.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong candidates may also have
Experience in AI hardware, data center, or semiconductor industries.
Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of supply chain operations and costed BOM practices.
Ability to define processes and standards in a scaling organization.
Benefits
Full medical, dental, and vision packages, with generous premium coverage
Housing subsidy of
$2,000/month
for those living within walking distance of the office
Daily lunch and dinner in our office
Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)
How we’re different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose (Santana Row), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
