The Senior Billing Manager manages the billing function and workflows in support of the firm's Corporate Department and strategically implements changes and improvements of the billing process and technology.
This position is available as a hybrid work schedule and open to any of our US office locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with Finance Department management, lead efforts on the firm-wide Billing Improvement Project. Develop and execute initiatives in efforts to standardize and improve workflows and billing practices. Point of contact for Corporate Department billing set up, configuration, and support requests. Conduct training for new hires on Expert Billing and digital prebill tools. Conduct ongoing training and provide support for digital prebill tools for EAs, Members and other attorney prebill reviewers. Manage monthly billing workflow including timely prebill processing by finance team, follow up with Members and Departments on late prebills, and responsible for completion of all billing activities by monthly close. Ensure compliance, accuracy, and maintenance of matter billing schedules (monthly, milestone, end of project, etc.). Reduce aged WIP in line with firm Financial Policies. Initiate monthly prebill generation and prompt distribution of prebills to Members and other attorney prebill reviewers. Lead and oversee implementations including split billing, consolidated billing, task codes, matters plans, fixed fee billing in Aderant, and other duties as assigned by the Billing Director. Provide direction, coach, and manage the work of a team of 2-4 direct reports. Perform related duties as assigned or directed by supervisor. Maintain compliance with all firm policies and procedures. Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree required. 7+ years of extensive experience with the billing, collections, and ebilling functions of a law firm. Experience with Aderant Expert Billing and BillBlast preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Strong service-oriented skills including excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including group session facilitation. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:
Palo Alto, New York, San Francisco: $163,200 - $220,800 per year.Washington, D.C.: $147,050 - $198,950 per year.
The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
