We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee all financial and accounting operations of our growing manufacturing organization in the greater Brookfield, WI area. This high-level role will oversee all financial and accounting operations, manage the accounting function, and play a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, and risk management. Reporting directly to the owner, The Controller will also partner with senior leadership to deliver financial insights that support strategic decision-making and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance Operations
Manage Accounts Payable, payroll, collections, deposits, and general ledger functions. Oversee monthly close, reconciliations, financial statements, and reporting packages. Prepare commission reports, cash flow projections, and bank balance monitoring. Conduct job costing and project expense tracking to ensure accurate reporting. Analyze expenses, identify trends, and recommend efficiency improvements. Financial Reporting & Compliance
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements. Maintain compliance with GAAP, tax obligations, and audit requirements. Collaborate with external CPA firms on tax and audit matters. Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes. Provide actionable financial insights for leadership and strategic planning sessions. Risk Management & Controls
Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets. Evaluate financial risks and implement improvements. Policy & Procedure Development
Develop, update, and enforce financial policies and procedures. Promote consistency, transparency, and accountability across operations. Additional Responsibilities (as needed)
Support HR-related activities, including 401(k) administration, benefits updates, and compliance. Assist with recruitment coordination, onboarding, and leadership sessions. Provide occasional support with logistics and operational issues. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (relevant experience considered in lieu of degree). Experience:
Minimum 3 years in accounting/finance roles, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Knowledge:
Strong background in GAAP, compliance, and financial reporting. Skills: Analytical and problem-solving with a strategic mindset. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in accounting software and financial tools. Leadership experience managing teams and working cross-functionally. Preferred:
Familiarity with HR support functions, benefits administration, and manufacturing/inventory processes.
