Job Summary:
As a lead accountant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls of the company. Your role involves ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the general ledger and underlying financial records, leading and performing month-end close activities including the preparation and review of complex general ledger reconciliations and journal entries, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and providing financial insights to management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close Perform month-end and year-end close processes including the preparation and review of journal entries and supporting account reconciliations. Audit and Compliance
Support and actively participate in annual external audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements. Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting department. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting. Growth Opportunities
Financial Reporting
Assist in preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Financial Analysis
Conduct analysis of account balances to drive insights and support process enhancements. Identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks to the organization's financial health. Requirements
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA certification.
Minimum 2 years experience in public accounting firm
Minimum 4-5 years of experience in general ledger accounting
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations (US GAAP).
Preferred
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, deFacto and/or, Flintfox.
Experience with GAAP and Tax financial reporting; inventory accounting for a distributor; lease accounting.
General and Interpersonal Skills
Team player and strong collaboration skills.
Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
Ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
Proactive in learning and contributing to a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and process improvements.
Willingness to "roll up sleeves" to get answers and provide clear supporting documentation.
