Responsibilities

Calibrate electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to meet set standards. Test, calibrate, adjust, and maintain electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydromechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments. Set up calibration sequences, methods, and procedures according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements. Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace defective parts of test equipment such as pressure gauges and tension meters. Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Technician Support Career Stream

Provide technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement, or product development. Use schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment, or systems. Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data using established formulae and procedures, and perform detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes. Differentiating Factors

Autonomy:

Work as a seasoned individual contributor, under limited supervision, providing assistance and training to lower-level employees. Run minor projects, including performing tests, interpreting data, and developing reports.

Perform technical activities requiring considerable judgment and may have ownership of minor projects. Work consists of technical tasks that are typically not routine.

Innovation and Complexity:

Face general technical problems that may require some analysis to understand and resolve. Expected to independently propose solutions to problems for supervisor review.

Communicate typically with internal contacts. Obtain and provide technical information on matters of moderate importance to the job area.

Responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area.

Required Knowledge and Experience

Complete and broad knowledge of operational systems, techniques, and practices typically gained through extensive experience and/or education. Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.
