Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele position with strong Med/Surg Telemetry skills and an active MD or compact license.
Responsibilities Work in the Medical Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit serving as an ED boarder area for various hospital units, excluding critical care Patient diagnosis variety with cardiac tele, ER holding, neuro stepdown, and PCU patient populations preferred Patient ratio of 1:5 on days and nights, and 1:4 on weekends Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts, 19:00 to 07:30 Every other weekend required Epic documentation system preferred; Epic training provided during orientation Floating within the hospital required, with travelers first to float Navy blue scrubs required Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population boarding from multiple units except critical care CPI certification is provided at no charge during orientation with a blue card issued Travelers are required to be comfortable with floating assignments as clinically appropriate Block scheduling or specific schedule requests cannot be accommodated Return travelers must have a 6-month break from the system, and former staff must have been separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler Modules and orientation are required and are non-billable Holiday coverage is typically for one major holiday during the winter season Requests for time off must be included in initial application and cannot exceed 7 days, with additional requirements if more than 4 consecutive days are requested
Requirements Active MD or compact RN license required at the time of consideration Minimum of 2 years of MS/tele experience required Certifications required: BLS, NIHSS, and CPI (provided during orientation if not possessed); ACLS preferred Experience with cardiac telemetry, ER holding, neuro stepdown, or progressive care strongly preferred Must be open to floating within hospital as needed Proficiency with Epic EMR preferred; Epic training provided Two satisfactory professional references needed from most recent employers, including one supervisor/manager and one charge RN Must live at least 50 miles from facility to qualify
