Lead Custodian

Primary Focus:

Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient school environment, supervising custodial work, and supporting the daily operation of the building.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities: Oversee scheduling and completion of general maintenance for designated building in coordination with the Principal and Director of Facilities. Plan, oversee and perform maintenance/repair work to ensure safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Assist in training, scheduling, and providing feedback for evaluation of custodial staff by the principal. Maintain cleanliness of classrooms, restrooms, halls, floors, cafeteria, windows, and outdoor areas. Manage supply inventory and request replenishments when necessary. Sweep, disinfect, and ensure facilities remain in safe condition throughout the day. Perform minor repairs and report major maintenance needs promptly. Coordinate and timely complete periodic maintenance projects, such as waxing floors. Oversee and perform seasonal duties such as snow removal, salting, and grounds upkeep. Secure and check doors, windows, and exits to ensure building safety. Support school and athletic events by working occasional evening and weekend shifts. Move and arrange furniture or equipment as needed for school programs and activities. Follow safety protocols and use proper cleaning equipment and chemicals. Promote the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees. Regularly check assigned school email account and complete annual employee training. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands:

Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies, and other printed materials Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally Ability to reach in all directions Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to operate office equipment Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a typical conversation.
