Job Summary
Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnering with a well-established leader in the renewable energy and utility infrastructure sector to help them hire a
Director of Estimating
. This position offers the opportunity to lead and evolve an estimating department serving major solar, substation, and energy storage projects nationwide. The Director will develop estimating standards, mentor a growing team, and ensure the quality, accuracy, and competitiveness of all bids and preconstruction deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3-5 estimators across multiple active and upcoming projects.
Build and refine departmental processes, tools, and systems to support scalability and efficiency.
Oversee all phases of estimating and preconstruction including budgets, schedules, value engineering, and risk management.
Provide hands-on estimating support for complex renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with project management, engineering, and business development teams to align cost strategy with company goals.
Conduct constructability reviews, lead bid proposal efforts, and ensure quality and consistency in all estimates.
Represent the company in client meetings, presentations, and interviews to support winning strategies.
Partner closely with operations during post-bid and preconstruction phases to ensure smooth handoff and execution.
Qualifications and Must-Haves
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of preconstruction or estimating experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven success estimating large-scale electrical or renewable energy projects (solar, substation, or BESS).
Strong working knowledge of cost estimating principles, materials, market conditions, and trade practices.
Hands-on estimating experience; must be able to build and review estimates independently.
Proficiency with Bluebeam, Primavera (P6), and Accubid.
Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills with a track record of mentoring teams and managing client relationships.
Pay Details:
$150,000.00 to $190,000.00 per year
