About the role

The Custodian is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, sanitation, and cleanliness of Casa Esperanza facilities located at Tewksbury Hospital. This position ensures that all areas are kept clean, safe, and welcoming for staff, clients, and visitors. Casa Esperanza, Inc. provides all personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with CDC guidelines.

What you'll do

Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, polish, and vacuum floors in all assigned areas. Gather and dispose of trash and recyclables from offices, front desk areas, client rooms, and restrooms. Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and showers; restock disposable items such as soap, toilet paper, and hand towels. Dust and clean furniture, walls, and equipment regularly. Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces using provided cleaning products. Mix cleaning solutions using approved chemicals and mixers for daily and weekend cleaning staff. Manage inventory of cleaning products; place orders and submit invoices as required. Follow established procedures for the safe use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to avoid damage to floors, fixtures, and equipment. Check and clean water filters in the laundry room as scheduled. Properly use, store, and maintain all cleaning and power equipment to ensure safety and longevity. Report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards immediately to the Operations Department. Participate in emergency drills, environmental safety inspections, and other safety-related activities as requested. Attend and actively participate in all required health, safety, and service trainings. Perform light maintenance tasks, including replacing paper dispensers, unclogging drains, and cleaning washing machine screens. Perform additional duties as specified in the job addendum or as assigned by the supervisor. Required Competencies and Skills

Organizational Skills:

Ability to plan and prioritize tasks to ensure all cleaning and maintenance responsibilities are completed promptly. Must be able to respond efficiently to emergencies and urgent cleaning needs. Physical Strength and Stamina:

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, walk, scrub, reach overhead, and operate heavy cleaning equipment for extended periods. Communication Skills:

Must be able to follow directions accurately and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. Requires proficiency in using email, text, and phone communication to coordinate with the Operations Department. Must be willing and able to complete

MicroMain

training (Casa's work order system) to create, update, and close work orders via phone or laptop. Attention to Detail:

Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and safety throughout the facility. Must adhere strictly to cleaning schedules and chemical use guidelines, ensuring all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning tasks are completed as assigned. Desired Skills and Attributes

This is a

full-time, onsite

position.

Standard working hours are

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

, with occasional

on-call availability after hours

as needed for emergencies or facility issues. The Custodian primarily works indoors but may be required to perform outdoor cleaning or maintenance tasks in varying weather conditions.

Physical & Mental Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The pay range for this role is:
