Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, this position independently performs all modes of maintenance, repairs, and modifications of JTA facilities and equipment. Responsible for equipment repairs, electric diagnosis, A/C troubleshooting, etc. on facilities This is a Journeyman position.

Essential Function(s):

Inspects troubleshoots, and repairs electrical units, including but not limited to diagnosing, removing, and replacing electrical/electronic components and making wiring repairs. Will repair, overhaul and maintain all electrical systems and equipment associated with buildings and structures Will install, repair and overhaul shop equipment, hydraulic and electric vehicle lifts, electric motors, generators, pumps, presses, shears, sweepers and all other units within all JTA properties and facilities. Will conduct preventative maintenance and service on hoists, doors, bus washer, air compressors and other units as deemed necessary. Must be able and tolerate working in excess of 45 feet above the ground, training and safety equipment will be provided to operate high lift equipment Will complete other duties as assigned including carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, construction and general maintenance etc. Communicates with co-workers, management, and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Conforms to all safety rules and wears/uses all appropriate safety equipment. Performs related work as assigned Responsible for completing all mandatory training classes Responsible for reviewing and complying with all JTA policies, procedures and directives. Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent. Three (3) or more years of recent and verifiable experience in electrical field. Five (5) years documented extensive facilities maintenance experience. Must be able to interpret diagrams, schematics and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical equipment. License & Certifications:

Journeyman Electrician License OSHA General Industrial Certification Special Requirements:

Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Must have a clean driving record Must acquire or possess the tools necessary to perform the duties of the position, including pneumatic, measuring and hand tools, and a rollaway toolbox (an allowance is provided by contract if hired) Must be available to work five (5) consecutive days including Saturday and Sunday and/or holidays; as scheduled Must be available to work any one of three shifts - day, evening, or late; as scheduled. Physical Requirements:

Must possess the physical condition necessary to perform the following on a frequent or continual basis: stand, transport oneself from station to station in a large maintenance facility, safely access service bays, sit while reviewing or preparing work orders and other paperwork, bend, squat, stoop, turn, climb, kneel, twist, perform simple and power grasping, push, pull, perform fine hand and finger manipulations, safely lift and carry heavy objects or use appropriate lifting equipment and techniques for heavier items. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must able to work different shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to provide own tools. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the transit system. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, stretch, kneel, and lift 50 lbs. Ability to work in open bays, inside buses and outside in varying weather conditions. Ability to work with commercial cleaners and toxic materials. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing Ability to operate saws, drill press, grinders, presses and similar shop equipment. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work as part of a team.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Stand for prolonged periods. Perform repetitive motion.

Driver's License - The position description will specify whether a driver's license is required and the acceptable class of license. Unless an exception under Florida law exists, a nonresident must obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire. If a driver's license has a corrective lens restriction, the employee must wear corrective lenses when operating any vehicle for work purposes. Suspended or revoked licenses, work permits, and certain restricted licenses are not acceptable.
